Driving by car in the Low Emission Area of Antwerp

The city of Antwerp has established a restricted traffic zone to reduce pollution caused by cars. Only low-emission cars are allowed there free of charge. The area extends over the entire city center of Antwerp and also on the Left Bank. To access it, you must therefore find out about the classification of your vehicle and the requirements of the city. Here is some information you may find useful : Category 6 and 5 diesel vehicles as well as category 6,5,4,3 (with or without particulate filter) and 2 petrol, natural gas or LPG vehicles may have free access to this area. For diesel vehicles of categories 3 (with or without particulate filter), 2, 1 and older than European standards as well as petrol, natural gas and LPG vehicles of standard 1 or older than NE, you will need to bring a LEZ pass which costs 35€. With this pass you will be able to access the low emission zone but only 8 times a year. Also keep in mind that standard 4 vehicles with diesel will have to make a request beforehand to enter the zone according to the time they want and pay a maximum of 1 day after entering it.
