Barcelona El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport has 2 terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, each consisting of 3 separate buildings called T2A, T2B, and T2C. Terminal 2 was the first to be constructed and used to handle all flights until Terminal 1 was built in 2009 for low-cost and regional flights.
There is a distance of 4 kilometers between Terminal 2 and Terminal 1, so there is a shuttle bus service that takes you from one to the other. Please note that there might be delays due to traffic and the number of travelers with their luggage, etc. We recommend you never arrive at the airport with just enough time.
Between building T2A and T2B, there is a 5-minute walk, so no bus is needed.
Since the opening of T1, T2 is only used by some low-cost airlines and regional carriers.
At Terminal 2, you'll find the taxi stand, which allows quick access to the city center or surrounding areas.
Terminal 2 has two levels: Level 0 and Level 1.
These buildings form part of Terminal 2 and are interconnected. It won't take long to move from one to another, but it's not a good idea to rush since you'll frequently encounter passengers with luggage obstructing your way.
Building T2A: This section has been undergoing renovation for some time, so it's not operational.
Building T2B: This is the oldest part of the terminal. Flights of low-cost airlines such as Ryanair or Vueling depart from here.
Building T2B is divided into the following departure areas:
Level 0:
Level 1:
Flights operating within the Schengen Area are located in zone U, while destinations outside the Schengen Area operate in zones W and Y.
Building T2C: This terminal is used by easyJet and easyJet Switzerland.
Terminal 2 offers services such as restaurants and cafes, shops, duty-free zone, ATMs, Wi-Fi, baggage check-in counters, and information desks. Finally, it houses the Canudas VIP lounge, near departure area U. In T2, there is a luggage storage facility, which can be very useful for leaving your luggage when you don't need it. Its opening hours are from 06:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
For parking at Terminal 2, you have the following options: the general parking, express parking, VIP parking, or parking at external companies to AENA, which offer competitive rates and extra services. Use the Parkimeter search engine to find your parking spot and reserve it in advance - it won't take more than 2 clicks!
The general parking is a good option for stays of up to 4 days, the express parking is for short stays of less than a day or for passenger pick-up, and the VIP parking offers services for your maximum comfort. Drop off your car upon arrival at the terminal and pick it up at the same place upon your return.
If you want to park your vehicle for a short period of time to drop off or pick up a passenger, you can use the express parking. It is located on the passenger departure and arrival road of T2 (A, B, and C). If you park there, you get 10 minutes for free. Keep in mind that you cannot remain there for more than 24 hours; otherwise, your vehicle will be towed away.
We recommend that you plan your trip in advance, even if you are only picking someone up, to avoid any unforeseen issues.
