Horta is a neighborhood that belongs to the district of Horta i Guinardó, the third largest in size in Barcelona, surpassed only by Sants-Montjuïc and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. It is situated between the districts of Gràcia and Nou Barris.

Horta was an independent municipality until it merged with the city of Barcelona in 1904. In the past, it was a summer retreat for many locals; in fact, there are still manor houses preserved today, such as the gardens and the palace of the Marquis of Alfarràs, where the Laberint d'Horta is located.

The Horta neighborhood had abundant water resources, which led to its use for various crops. While there are almost none left today, in the past, there were many farmhouses owned by people who cultivated the land. Alongside land cultivation, industries that required ample water for production, such as tanning, starch factories, tile factories, and brick factories, thrived in the area.

Where to Park in Horta

Due to its topography and relative distance from the city center, Horta is a neighborhood to consider for finding parking in Barcelona. If being somewhat away from the center doesn't bother you, there is usually on-street parking available in Horta, although most of it is paid. A few years ago, the **Green Zone** was introduced across much of the neighborhood. Consequently, if you're not a resident, you won't be able to park for more than 2 hours there, and the cost is quite high.

For more budget-friendly parking, look for the **Blue Zones**, as they are cheaper than the Green Zones for non-residents. You can also try finding free spaces in the upper part of the neighborhood. Because of its distance from the center, there is significantly less traffic. Keep in mind that you cannot park in the **Blue Zone for over 4 hours**; if you plan to stay longer, you'll need to return to your car. If you're searching for **parking in Barcelona**, especially in this area, the best choice is to park in a parking facility.
