Where to park in Herstal

Welcome to Herstal, a charming town in Belgium where history and modernity coexist harmoniously. Since January 1, 2016, Herstal's parking regulations have been significantly simplified to make your visit more convenient. The goal was to create an easier, clearer, and more accessible system.

Where to park in Herstal

Herstal offers various parking solutions to meet your needs. Discovering the ideal parking spot is made easy when you are well-informed about the city's diverse parking facilities.

On-street parking

Herstal's on-street parking system is structured to accommodate visitors while ensuring compliance with regulations.

The current parking regulation in Herstal is straightforward. There are two main parking zones in Herstal:

1. The Paid Zone: In this area, you can park for free for a quarter of an hour. If you plan to stay longer, you'll need to pay at the parking meters, with a rate of €0.50 per half hour and a maximum parking duration of two hours. Please note that this zone is relatively small and includes only ten streets.

2. The Blue Zone: Parking in the blue zone is free for up to two hours, provided you display the "blue zone" disc (details available on the back). This zone is more extensive and offers additional flexibility.

If you reside in a restricted zone (either the paid or blue zone), you have the option to obtain an annual residents' card, allowing you to park without a time limit anywhere in Herstal except for Camille Lemonnier and Jean Jaurès places. The first card per household is free. If you're unable to secure a resident card, a paid general public subscription is also available, providing the same advantages as the resident card.

Moreover, very small businesses (VSE), defined as those employing a maximum of 5 workers, including the manager, can subscribe to obtain cards at a preferential rate for their employees. Please note that these cards do not permit unlimited parking everywhere but are specific to well-defined areas based on your company's location.

Paid car parks

For those seeking stress-free parking in close proximity to Herstal's attractions, the town offers a selection of paid car parks. These options are particularly convenient when you desire proximity to the city's heart.

Free parking in Herstal

Herstal offers more than 400 completely free parking spaces in the city center. In the vicinity of the Town Hall, you can find 120 parking spaces in the Michel Daerden sports hall, 150 spaces in the "Browning" parking lot on rue Faurieux, and 120 spaces in the new parking lot on rue Laixheau, replacing the old Aldi. Additionally, there are 20 spaces in Thier des Monts and nearly 30 spaces in two car parks on rue des Mineurs. Enjoy the convenience of these free parking areas!
