Parking in Metz

The city of Metz is a French commune located in the center of the Moselle department, of which it is the prefecture, which is in the Grand Est region. The city has approximately 120,000 inhabitants and is at the center of an agglomeration that attracts almost 300,000 inhabitants. All this population generates a lot of traffic in a fairly small municipality, which can make parking difficult, as spaces are limited. For this reason, we will share in this article our tips and tricks for parking in Metz without complications.

Parking zones in Metz

The city of Metz has a parking policy that uses four zones that are differentiated by their location and rate. In Metz, you will find a green zone, an orange zone, a purple zone and a red zone. The first is a long-term parking zone located on the outskirts of Metz, in the suburbs, and offers half-day rates of 2 euros. The orange zone is also a long-term parking zone, but is located in the interior of Metz, and has a rate of €2 per 2 hours and allows parking for up to 8 hours. The purple zone is located in the city center and is therefore logically more expensive, costing 4 euros for 2 hours of parking with a maximum of 3 hours. Finally, the red zone is located near the stores; the first hour of parking is free, and then it costs 7 euros for 2 hours and allows you up to 2h30 of parking. These rates apply from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The "1h shopping" zone is charged from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and the "Piscine Lothaire" zone is charged from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you wish to park for free, you can do so on Sundays and public holidays.

Public parking in Metz

There are days when we don't feel like looking for parking on the street and we just want to get to a place directly and leave our car, especially if we are in a hurry or just for convenience. For this reason, you always have the option of hiring a public parking lot. In addition, a paid parking is more likely to have more security than simply leaving it on the street and parking space that you may have to pay for. For this reason, and for greater convenience, we recommend that you reserve your parking space through Parkimeter. You can do it online in a very easy and fast way.
