Parking in Mulhouse

The city of Mulhouse is a city located in the heart of the department of Haut-Rhin, the largest in terms of population, located in the Grand Est region, of which Strasbourg is the capital and very close to the borders with Switzerland and Germany. It has almost 110,000 inhabitants and its catchment area covers more than 410,000 inhabitants, i.e. more than half of its department. All this population obviously generates a lot of traffic in a rather small municipality. The city center is mainly pedestrian, which means that it is not designed for driving. As a result, it can be very difficult to find available parking spaces, and those that are available offer very limited (or short-term) parking.

Parking areas in Mulhouse

The city of Mulhouse has a parking policy that uses three zones that are differentiated by their location and rates. In Mulhouse, you will find a green zone, an orange zone and a red zone. The first is a long-term parking zone located mainly on the outskirts of the city and has the lowest rates. At a rate of €0.80 per hour, you can park in this zone for up to 4 hours. The orange zone is located in the hypercenter of Mulhouse and will cost you €1.80 per hour and allows you to park for up to 2 hours. Finally, the red zone is located near the stores and the train station and offers free parking for up to 30 minutes for half a day. The rates for the paid parking zones apply from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Public parking in Mulhouse

All on-street parking spaces are insufficient to accommodate the many vehicles wishing to park in the city. For this reason, Mulhouse has several public parking lots in different locations with a larger number of spaces. These parking lots are an interesting option for visitors to the city, as they are often safe and sometimes even cheaper than parking on the street. Therefore, we recommend you to book your parking space through Parkimeter. You can do it online very easily.

The city of Mulhouse

The city of Mulhouse is currently one of the French cities with the largest population of young people, with 42% of its inhabitants under 30 years old. This is a clear sign of the resurgence of this city, which developed enormously during the industrial revolution between the 18th and 19th centuries, earning it the nickname of the "French Manchester". The city retains an important trace of this past, especially through its museums, including the National Automobile Museum, one of the largest in the world, and the Électropolis and La Cité du Train museums, both the most important in Europe in their field. Mulhouse has received the title of "City of Art and History", which offers numerous points of interest that will seduce you during your visit.
