Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a commune located in the south-west of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, in the centre of the New Aquitaine region, in the cultural area of the Basque Country. The commune is located about twenty kilometres from the Spanish town and therefore very close to the French-Spanish border. It has around 15.000 inhabitants and, due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, welcomes a large number of visitors each year who come to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the town. As a result, the town has become a well-known seaside resort on the Basque coast and a crossing point between France and Spain. The town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz has almost 3,000 parking spaces in the town centre, mainly on the street. These spaces are divided into several zones depending on their location in the town centre and the rates vary according to the season. There are three different zones: a pink zone, a green zone and an orange zone. The pink zone is a parking zone that offers 30 minutes of free parking. The green zone is a long-term zone that allows parking for up to 5 hours at a dissuasive rate. Paid parking is available from Monday to Saturday, except on public holidays, from 9am to 12.30am and from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.
