Vincennes is a commune in the Val-de-Marne department in the Île-de-France region, east of Paris. The commune acquired its name due to its proximity to the Bois de Vincennes located to the south of the city. It is the second most populated commune in France. Vincennes is located at the gateway to Paris, between Montreuil and the Bois de Vincennes. It is also very well connected by transport, being linked to the Paris metro by line 1 and the RER A.
