If you want to know more about the city, what to see and where to park near the main points of interest in the city, keep reading!

How to get around Malaga

Malaga is a perfect city for walking around, as the main places of interest are not far from each other. If you decide to move around by car, you should know that the traffic in Malaga is conditioned by an active limited traffic zone. Therefore, it is important to be careful where you drive, and even more, where you park; since some parking areas are prohibited. Ideally, and to avoid confusion, opt to leave your car in a public parking in Malaga. Better to pay for parking in a safe place than for a fine!

You can also take advantage of the city's efficient public transportation system, which includes two metro lines and fifty day and night bus lines, contributing to the sustainability of commuting.

What is there to visit?

The Alcazaba is undoubtedly the most interesting place in the city. This residence was built as a home for Muslim rulers. The enclosure is impeccably preserved and inside you can see fountains, courtyards and the beautiful view of the city due to the fact that it is located on a hill.

From the Alcazaba you can walk up a slightly steep slope or take bus 35 to the Gibralfaro Castle which had a place to house soldiers and a lighthouse. In fact, the latter is nicknamed "mount of light" and is also recommended for its splendid view!

Continuing south from the Alcazaba you can visit the ancient Roman Theater of Malaga; the oldest historical site in the city. Built by Augustus, over the centuries, it was used as a theater, but also as a cemetery. Its ruins were rediscovered in 1951 when a building was erected just above the site. It is currently used for various events, but there is no admission charge.

Museums

Malaga is also full of museums, among which we can mention: the Museo Casa Natal de Picasso and the Picasso Museum, with more than 200 works of the artist; on the other hand, there is also the Automobile and Fashion Museum, located in the old building of the Royal Tobacco Factory of the city, this one with more than 80 perfectly restored vintage cars. It is a place dedicated to art, culture and entertainment.

Markets in Malaga

As in all cities, the place where you can immerse yourself in the local culture is the market. Malaga also has its characteristic market, where you can taste all the local delicacies and meet and talk to the local merchants who are always willing to chat. This is the Atarazanas market, open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Beaches of Malaga

During your stay, whatever the season you want to come to the city, it is essential to visit its beaches. If you are a nature lover, this is a plan to relax and contemplate the beauty of the place. The closest beach to the center is the Malagueta beach; located near the port, but the most popular is the Playa de la Misericordia.

If you want to organize an excursion with a playground, the beach of San Andres is the right place. For easy access to this beach by car we recommend that you reserve a parking space at the RENFE station, which is very close to the port and the beaches.

Malaga awaits you with its colors, sights, history and culture, the ideal place for a relaxing vacation with friends or family!
