Where to park for the Cannes Film Festival 2023

During these two weeks, the streets and roads of Cannes will be really crowded. Traffic may be very complicated or even impossible depending on the time of the day. Moreover, it is important to keep in mind that in addition to the locals, thousands of visitors are expected. If you want to go to Cannes by car, here are some options if you want to park in Cannes :

Park in a car park in Cannes

Cannes has several car parks which are available for its locals as well as for visitors. Depending on their location, the rate will vary and, above all, they will be more or less full. It is therefore important to find out about their location beforehand to avoid unpleasant surprises. Park in the city centre of Cannes

If you want to park in the streets of Cannes, it is possible! However, keep in mind that it can be a challenge depending on the time of day and especially during the month of May. To park in Cannes, you should know that the city has three parking zones : the green zone, the yellow zone and the purple zone. The parking rate is generally the same for the green and yellow zones where parking is limited, while the purple zone has no time limit but is not necessarily located in the city centre. These zones are charged from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 12pm and from 2pm to 7pm and free on Sundays and public holidays. Here are the rates and information about the yellow and green zones :

Parking in the yellow zones : The yellow zone is also called the EcoPark zone and is located in the area around the centre of Cannes. The maximum parking time is 2 hours with a different rate depending on whether you are a visitor or a local: - 3.20€ for visitors (for 2 hours) - 1.70€ for people living in Cannes (2 hours) - Free of charge and with no time limit for people with the European parking card or the mobility inclusion card (with mention "parking")

Parking in green zones : The green zones are mainly located in the shopping and tourist area of Canne, i.e. the city centre. It is often busy and passage and parking can be very difficult. The prices are the same as for the yellow zone except for a few details: - 3.20€ for visitors and residents (2 hours) - The first 30 minutes of parking are free - For "clean" vehicles with a green disc (2 hours free) - Free of charge and with no time limit for people with the European parking card or the mobility inclusion card (with the mention "parking")

Parking outside the city centre

The other option is to park outside the city centre of Cannes in the purple zones and use the city's transport network to get to the city centre. This is a good option if you want to park for an unlimited period of time, but it is not the most convenient. The rates for the purple zone in Cannes are : - First 2 hours free - 1st ¼ hour = €0.70 - Additional ¼ hour = €0.50

The Cannes Film Festival

The most anticipated film event of the year will take place between the 16th and the 27th of May 2023 and this year will be presided over by Ruben Östlund who was awarded the Palme d'Or in 2022 by the former president of the 75 the edition, Vincent Lindon, the Palme d'Or for his film Triangle of Sadness. The Swedish director had, by then, already won with the film The Square in 2017 will now be president of the Jury for the Cannes Film Festival.

Thousands of film stars are expected to attend, such as Brad Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio, Johnny Depp, Sophie Marceau, Eva Longoria, but also many directors such as MAÏWENN or Peter SOHN for example. In addition to these celebrities, what makes the Cannes Film Festival such an iconic event is its mythical red carpet: every year, the whole of the steps of the Palais des Festivals is covered by several hundred metres of carpet.

For this 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, we already know the list of films listed in the different categories to which they belong: Competition, Un Certain Regard, Out of Competition, Midnight Screenings, Cannes Premieres and Special Screenings.

Throughout the event, the jury will award several prizes such as the Palme d'Or, the Best Actress Award, the Best Actor Award, the Jury Prize, the Director's Award and the Screenplay Award.

This year, the film Jeanne du Barry by MAÏWENN will open the ball with Johnny Depp in the lead. The film will have its world premiere at the event. To find out more about the official selection of films, go directly to the Cannes Festival website.

Things to do at the Cannes Film Festival

During the Cannes Film Festival, there are many things to do even though many people will be present. First of all, if you want to see your celebrities on the red carpet, go to the Palais des Festivals where you can admire them alongside the paparazzi.

For this event, the city of Cannes will provide several facilities that will be related to the films nominated during this period around the Croisette. If you don't have tickets to attend the screenings, don't worry! During the Festival, an open-air cinema on the beach is available for visitors. You can go there every evening at 9pm until May 23rd and see films that have marked the history of the Cannes Festival. However, you'll have to get there early to secure a seat!

If you are in Cannes, it is also the occasion to walk on the famous Croisette and to visit the city. Cannes has a lot to offer in terms of shopping and gastronomy as well as its beautiful seaside scenery. If you want to get away from the limelight, the best thing to do is to visit the islands next to Cannes or the neighbouring towns.

Come and enjoy these two special weeks in Cannes and enjoy your trip!
