Parking in the streets of Pamplona for the running of the bulls

What are the Sanfermines?
The Sanfermines is a spanish celebration that is characterised by the running of the bulls. The people dress in white trousers, a white T-shirt or polo shirt, trainers and a red scarf or sash, which is a typical symbol of the event.
The origin of the Sanfermines dates back several centuries, although it was not until Ernest Hemingway's book "Fiesta" was published, that the festival became known. Tradition has it that the red neckerchief must be worn around the neck as long as the sanfermines are alive, which is why people carry it in their pocket, in their hand or tied around their wrist until the Chupinazo is given. At that moment, people raise the neckerchief in the air shouting "Viva San Fermín, Gora San Fermín" and this is the start of this great festivity.
What do the running of the bulls consist of?
The most famous activity of the Sanfermines is the running of the bulls. The running of the bulls is a race of people over a distance of 850 metres in front of six bulls that will be fought in the bullring. Although it may seem like it, the running of the bulls is not compulsory, but if you want to attend there are a number of rules and prohibitions that you should know before you go: You must be of legal age (18 years or older) to be able to participate. It is forbidden to wear inappropriate footwear It is forbidden to attract the attention of the bulls to divert them from the course or to run towards them. It is forbidden to participate in the encierro under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is forbidden to carry objects that could harm the animals. It is forbidden to keep the doors of shops or houses open during the run.
What is the route for the running of the bulls?
The route of San Fermín starts on the slope of Santo Domingo, from there we go to the Plaza Consistorial, where the Chupinazo is given and where more than 12.000 people congregate every year, therefore kicking off the celebration. Then you head towards Calle Mercaderes, where you find the famous bend where all the falls and slips of the bulls take place. The last stretch is already in the famous Estafeta Street that goes to the Bullring, where the famous monument of the running of the bulls, the work of Rafael Huerta, is located.
