The Málaga Fair is an emblematic celebration that encapsulates the vitality and Andalusian culture in Spain. For ten days in August, the streets of Málaga are filled with visitors and locals who enjoy the decorated booths, flamenco music, and festive atmosphere.

The fair is a tribute to the rich history of the region and its passion for good food, dance, and fun, creating a unique atmosphere that reflects the joyful and welcoming spirit of Málaga. Due to its proximity to the celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin on August 15th, the Málaga Fair was traditionally held on that date for many years.

The Málaga Fair is full of events you can't miss, all taking place in various locations like the Málaga Fairground or "Real de la Feria," located at Cortijo de Torres and the surrounding areas.

The Málaga city council recommends using buses and taxis for transportation. However, the Mobility Area has provided 5,710 parking spaces in different areas of Cortijo de Torres and its surroundings.

Where to Park at the Málaga Fair 2023

The Málaga city council has carefully prepared the area and venues where the Málaga Fair takes place, so that all visitors can enjoy the most emblematic festivity of Málaga. You will find that all parking areas are marked and monitored. However, the city council has provided a total of 5,710 parking spaces, a number much lower than the 921,000 visitors to the fair in 2022.

Here are the parking areas available for the celebration of the Málaga Fair 2023:

  • Feria Norte/Palacio de Ferias: This parking area is exclusively for people with reduced mobility and motorcycles. A total of 220 spaces for PMR (Persons with Reduced Mobility) and the use of the space between the Youth area and the Palacio de Ferias for motorcycles.
  • Los Prados: This area will be marked with the orange color and will have a total of 1,895 spaces.
  • Huerta de Correo: This area will be marked with the blue color and will have 1,355 spaces.
  • Teatinos: This area will be marked with the white color and will have 640 spaces.

The remaining parking spaces (1,600 spaces) will be distributed throughout the city. The Málaga Fair parking areas are well identified with their corresponding colors, and there is expected to be control and information personnel at each parking area. In addition to these parking areas, the Carlos Haya, Pío Baroja, El Palo, and Cruz de Humilladero parking garages will remain open all day, 24 hours. Keep in mind that the most central streets will have limited parking hours, so be sure to pay close attention to avoid fines.

As you can see, there are several areas designated for parking. However, they are not sufficient, as last year over 921,000 people attended the Málaga Fair. If you don't want to spend hours searching for parking or queuing to enter one of the designated areas, we recommend that you reserve your parking in advance.

Regulated Parking Zones

During the Málaga Fair, regulated parking will maintain the same schedule as usual, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. On Saturday, August 12th, the open zones will have a schedule from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Traffic Closures and Diversions during the Málaga Fair

During the fair in the city center, traffic diversions will be implemented, mainly affecting Avenida de Ortega y Gasset, Camino de los Prados, and Camino de San Rafael. These roads will be closed at various points starting from 8:00 PM for vehicles heading to the fair, with corresponding detours. Additionally, the section of Camino de San Rafael between Calles Juan Gris and La Orotava will be closed to traffic 24 hours a day, every day of the week.

A section of Camino de San Rafael will be exclusively reserved for buses, taxis, and residents. This restriction will be indicated on Avenida de Juan XXIII and on Camino de San Rafael near the affected area. The access control system to the historic center will be active from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM during the fair. During this period, entry to the historic center will not be allowed, except in cases of emergency. Once the situation normalizes and the Local Police indicate, access will be resumed for residents and authorized individuals.

Additionally, there will be a traffic-free zone in the city center every day of the fair from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and it's expected that traffic will return to normal around 9:00 PM. The affected streets include Méndez Núñez, Casapalma, Cárcer, Nosquera, Comedias, Santa Lucía, Cisneros, Especería, Plaza de la Aduana, Cister, San Agustín, Duque de la Victoria, Molina Larios, Sancha de Lara, and Martínez.

Load and unload activities in the historic center will take place from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM during the fair week. In the preceding week, from August 7th to 11th, the schedule will be extended until 12:00 PM. Parking vehicles will be prohibited on the mentioned streets between 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
