To Avoid Unpleasant Surprises, Before Going to the Capital of Emilia Romagna, It Is Good to Know All the Information About the City's Limited Traffic Zone. First, it is useful to know where the access gates to the ztl are. The main gates are located on via vitale, via santo stefano, via marconi, via alessandrini, via san felice, via riva di reno, via sant'isaia, via d'azeglio, and viale xii giugno. The ztl in central bolonia is active every day from 7 am to 8 pm. Within this area, circulation is prohibited for all motor vehicles except residents or those with a business within the zone. This restriction does not apply to hybrid or electric vehicles, which may circulate freely and park for free within the blue lines on the side of the road.

What to Visit in Bolonia?

Bolonia is full of attractions. We suggest you start your visit at piazza maggiore (or piazza grande, as the bolognese call it), which is the center of bolognese life. It is famous for the neptune fountain, in front of which the most important buildings of the city stand: palazzo comunale, palazzo dei banchi, basilica di san petronio, and palazzo del podestà. If you are a student, we advise you to respect an old custom: never cross the square that passes through the center, but rather go around it, otherwise you may say goodbye to your degree. To reach this area, we recommend parking at the parking bolonia garage, which is only 10 minutes on foot from the square.

Another place we encourage you to visit is the basilica di san petronio, the most important and imposing church in bolonia, additionally being the fifth largest in the world. It is the last great gothic work in italy, with a latin cross plan and three naves with chapels.

Finally, we strongly recommend a visit to torre asinelli. The towers of bolonia are one of the city's distinctive features. Of the numerous towers built between the 12th and 13th centuries, fewer than twenty remain today. These structures had both a military and aristocratic function: they gave prestige to the family that ordered their construction. Visitors, after climbing the 498 steps of the interior staircase, can reach the top of torre asinelli, which, at 97.20 meters high, allows you to have the city at your feet. To get there, we recommend parking at parking bolonia polyclinic fast, located just over 10 minutes' walk from torre asinelli, which is reached after a pleasant walk along the main street.

The Trattorias of Bolonia

Bolonia Is World-Renowned Not Only for Its History but Also for Having One of the Oldest Culinary Cultures in Italy. We recommend that you try all the typical dishes, and that you especially go to the trattorias and small restaurants, where you can taste the true bolognese cuisine: tagliatelle, lasagna, tortelloni, and, of course, the ever-present tortellini. In short, bolonia is the cradle of pasta, but also of the sauces for pasta, and here the famous ragù alla bolognese was born.
